Crafts in a Box

We found this idea for Elizabeth’s birthday online.  It’s a craft project box.  It comes in the mail monthly like a magazine.  Each box has 2 or 3 projects with ALL the supplies.  Makes doing crafts easy.

The first box was all about wind.  We made a wind detector which is flying out back and a carts that they ran up and down the drive way.

Today Elizabeth happen to catch the mail lady passing by and ran out to meet her.  Much to her surprise another box arrived.  This one was all about plants.

It’s called Kiwicrate and so far we’ve been pleased with it.

It strikes again…

So after Logan went a full day, still complaining his head hurt (pointing to his forehead like a headache) and still lifeless, I caved and headed to the dr.  I can count on one hand how often we go to the dr. but I just wasn’t familiar with everything and I’ve never seen him so lifeless.  Any way, the dr took one look at his throat after we gave her the symptoms and said – strep.  Won’t was the time on the culture – it’s strep.  She then told Logan not to kiss on Luke.   This was Thursday afternoon.  And Luke was running up at down the halls of the doctor office – flirting with all the nurses and doctors.

Friday morning Luke wakes up and manages to take three naps before noon and puke.  Needless to say, we were back at the doctor Friday afternoon and non of them could be the 180 both boys had taken.  Luke didn’t get out of my arms and Logan was bouncing off the walls and talking non stop.  I did convince them to give him a shot before we left because he is so terrible with taking medicine.  Luke screamed and Logan had tears in his eyes – so scared for his brother having to get a shot.  He felt so bad for Luke and I told him that’s what happens when you don’t take your medicine.  Needless to say, he’s been taking his like a champ!  We have made it 24 more hours with no new victims!  Just praying the rest of us stay healthy.

Elizabeth’s Top Six

Elizabeth finished her final project for Kindergarten today.  They have to do a presentation of 6 important times in their lives.  They have had to do a monthly “family” project all year and Elizabeth and I have enjoyed doing them all.

Bigger Lap

DSC_0043

Last Sunday we went to the French Quarter Festival.  It wiped us all out so we spent the evening being lazy around the house.

In Nov, Daddy will have to make room for one more on his lap.

That’s right, I’m 12 weeks.  I want a girl, Justin wants a boy.  I don’t want to find out, Justin does.  How we agreed to a fourth I’m not sure!  Elizabeth and Logan are very excited.  Elizabeth wants a little sister and I can’t blame her – how many brothers does a girl need!  Logan flips with the wind.  Mom and Dad honestly just want a healthy baby.  Everything is off to a good start.  I’ve found a dr and decided on a hospital.  Since all three have been born at the same place we knew the routine so I’m sure we’ll have some changes to deal with.  I’ve had a little nausea and a few headache – but nothing terrible.  The worst has been the 5pm wall I hit.  I feel like crashing just in time for dinner, homework, baths and such.  I’m hoping I get some of that second trimester energy back real soon!

We jinxed ourselves.  Recently Justin and I had been talking about how none of the kids have been sick in a while.  In fact, we’ve been in this house for almost two years now and no one has puked in it!  Some may laugh at this but there was a year shortly before we moved that it seemed like every other week we were fighting something.  So Logan’s school called yesterday to say Logan just threw up – come get him.  I was at home waiting for the garage door man to come so I called Daddy to rescue.

He was home 5 minutes before puking again – in his bed of course!  We felt so bad for him.  All he wanted to do is lay down and sleep.  So we get him all settled in and Justin heads back to work after a quick lunch.  I look over at Luke sitting at the table and there’s a puddle under him.  So off to the bath room to clean him up.  I throw him in the tub and go back to clean the floor up – next thing I know he comes waddling out from the tub, yucky, yucky.  I go in the bath room to find poop floating in the tub.  Oh the life of a mom!  I managed to clean up puke, pee and poop all within an hour!

Happy 6th Birthday!

A special little girl turned 6 this past Thursday.  We made this birthday cake for her school celebration.  (if you ever want a good cookie cake recipe I recommend this one from Emeril. I’ve even doubled it to make this large sheet cake.  It’s yummy and stays super soft over night!)

DSC_0002

I did this last year and it was requested again.  I’m afraid this may become a regular.  She’s only eaten two pieces which she split with her brothers.  I think it’s just the excitement of receiving it.

DSC_0003

So today we had her party with her school friends.  We had it at our local YMCA which has a great pool area for the kids.  By all the smiles I’d call it a success!

DSC_0007

I barely caught her coming down the slide.

DSC_0013

I made her pause for one quick picture.

Since so few kids actually eat cake, I went with an ice cream cake this year and by all accounts the kids loved the cotton candy blue ice cream with m and m’s!  We had a plan chocolate on the bottom for the adults!

DSC_0017

Mom messed up and forgot a lighter.  Then of course their wasn’t a single smoker around when you needed them.  So we had pretend “candles”.  Honestly it was so windy today they probably wouldn’t have stayed lit!  E was a good sport able it.

Justin couldn’t figure out what to do with the mess on his hands!

DSC_0026

I’m sure all the parents loved the neon pink and green icing and blue ice cream.  Good thing about a pool party is they could rinse right off!

DSC_0027

To balance the sugar we also had some fruit and chips.  And surprisingly all the kids put a good hurting on it too.

Luke became a little possessive!

Boys 2 yr and 4 yr Stats

Today we did double duty at the doctors.  I had put off Logan’s well child visit last December just to stay clear of the germs at the dr office.  So it’s been six months since Luke’s last visit.  I’m not complaining, the less time I spend at the dr the better!

So today at 4yr 4 months, Logan was still on his 75% curve at 42 inches and 42lbs.  Poor boy had to get four shots but he took them like a man.  A little whimpering during the last two but once done wipe the tears and moved on.

Luke was 30lbs and 33 inches for his 2 yr old check up.  He was lucky enough not to need shots.

We’ll have to go back shortly for the birthday girls well visit but hopefully that will be it for another six months!  I’m so grateful for for healthy children!

PS I post dated some cruise posts so if you want lots of pics of the kids scroll down past Easter!

Hope everyone had a great Easter.  Brotherly love at its finest.

Eager to go open the basket full of eggs they brought home from church.

And Luke not really sure what we were doing but just happy to be doing things with the big kids.

Logan hunting for eggs around the house this morning from the Easter bunny.   Good thing the bunny left a lot or they would have finished finding them all before their parents got up!

Pausing for a quick photo before tearing into their baskets.

Look wasn’t to sure what was going on when he woke up this morning but once he figured out the eggs had treats he was all over it.

Day 5 - Jamaica

There’s a fairly new “port” in Falmoth Jamaica.  We heard it jokingly called Jamerica and boy was that true.  They have a huge shopping center built.  Looks like a typical suburbia outdoor mall.

DSC_0111

Greetings as we got off the boats.

DSC_0114

Logan still looking for a souvenir... he wanted to buy the plastic made in China pirate sword.  Again we said no, and proceeded to have a break down.

DSC_0116

This is Luke not wanting to share the chair…yes, Margaretville!  Jamerica was complete with Quiznos, Nathans hotdogs…

DSC_0119

Luke finally happy to have the seat to himself.

DSC_0123

Humoring their parents!

DSC_0126

We tried to get Logan to get a “local” sword but he’d have nothing to do with it.

DSC_0127

Since we have a huge pirate fan we decide a ride on a pirate ship would be fun.  It was cheesy but very entertaining even for mom and dad!

DSC_0131

They put on a show full with dancing and sword fighting.

DSC_0133

DSC_0136

The kids got to go on treasure hunt, get a bouty bag, and balloon sword.  After that there was a pirate battle, lunch and drinks all along.

Kids were past posing for pics at this point!
