8-29-07

My pictures automaticaly save by date, so when I was loading pics tonight, I came across this one that was from 8/29/07.  I laughed at this chubby baby girl who had put on a jacket and shirt she had recieved in the mail that day!  In this pic she's the same age Luke is right now so it's neat to see the similarities and differances.  This was also before E's world was turned upside down with brothers!

Fair 2011

So back in May at a coop meeting (PTA) I was approached about being a Fair Chair Couple for our church/school.  They put on a fairly large fair in October every year.  They have six couples that head it each year and idealy you do two years, one as jr and one as sr.  After much debate Justin and I agreed, not sure what we were getting into!

It's the first weekend of Oct, so it's quickly approaching and we are in high gear, so if I'm slacking on the blog, that why!  Last week we helped stuff the bulletins.  I was concerned with E tearing them up but she surprised me and was a great help!  She was so excited to help.

Big boy

Logan went to his first day of preschool today, he was all smiles going and coming, so I tried not to cry!

When are you leaving, Mom?  I'm tired of pics and want you to leave!

Dipper or filler?

Elizabeth's teacher told us the other night they read this book on the first day of class encouraging everyone to be "bucket fillers" not "bucket dippers".

On Wednesday, she sadly reported how a classmate was being a bucket dipper and not allowing her to play a puzzle game with her.  I explained she just needed to keep tying to play with this other girl and it would be ok.  Today she reported she was inviting her to a sleepover.

?? A sleepover...I'm not even sure she knows what that means but she's defiantly growing up!

The night before Kindergarten

So last night’s goal was to get the kids to bed by 7:30.  It use to be the norm but once time changed last spring, and the days got long, and summer set in bedtime around here has gotten slack to say the least.

So baths at 6:30 left us with a little time for a few books, E’s choice of course.  She picks a children’s bible, which is short Bible stories with reflection questions at the end to “drive home” the message.  She picks out the story about Sarah and Abraham and it wraps up with God always keeps his promise.  First question following the story, Has any one ever told you they’d do something and then not done?  E quickly replies with yes, you said I could have Oreo pudding last night and then said no.  And we still didn’t get it tonight! (They got chocolate but obviously that didn’t matter).  Second question, “How do you feel when someone doesn’t keep their promises?”  E – sad, I really wanted Oreo pudding.  Message driven home…even small promises parents may think don’t matter may matter to your kids!  Some ones getting Oreo pudding when she gets home from school today!

Kindergarten

DSC_0775

So we got to go meet E’s new teachers this past Thursday!  Since she’s at the same school as PK it is making the start of kindergarten much easier on E and mommy!

Love this little girl!  She’s just growing up too fast.

He was so proud of himself!

Swim Test

Tonight both Elizabeth and Logan passed the swim test at the YMCA.  This means they can get in the water by themselves and go down the slides without mom and dad in the water.  It was 25m which is quite a long distance for their little bodies.  Logan took his sweat time, swimming like a slow turtle but it's not timed, just finish the lap without help.

The instructor said she thinks he's the first 3 yr old they've had to pass the test! (it's only been open a month).

Way to go kids!  Mom and Dad are proud of you!

Mobile Visit

We so often only go to Mobile via another stop.  So this past weekend we went strictly for a visit.  The boys went and toured the battle ship and then in the afternoon the girls went and got their nails done!

Our god daughter Emily has a birthday coming up in two weeks, so we used that as an excuse to get some of the extended family together.

Loving our floors

I had to document our other two rooms that got new floors.  I’m still loving them!

Love Notes

DSC_0689
E is the short hand queen.  She loves to write notes.  Last Saturday I had to work at her school for book day so Daddy stayed at home with the kiddos.  Evidently Justin sent her to her room for misbehaving and she came up with these two notes.

Mommy you are the best mommy in the whole wide world.

Daddy you are the not the best daddy because you yell at us.

I post this because I think it’s hilarious, not to brag…I think it may have hurt Justin’s feelings but I’m sure there are many of days past and future where she’s felt this way about me too!

Happy Birthday Mimi

DSC_0699

Mimi said she wanted a hug from her grandkids for her birthday.  So she came and got one!

More than words

For some reason, Papa thinks he has to have a reason to come visit us!  So to get him to come visit I ordered almost 1000sq ft of flooring and he graciously came and installed it for us!  Wow, how do you think someone for that!  They are beautiful.  When I was putting E to bed tonight she asked when Handy Papa was coming to visit again…guess I’ll have to start thinking up another project!

Thanks again for everything Dad.  While we love the floors, we enjoyed more than that, the time to visit and play!

WWII Museum

After all that hard work this past week we decided we needed to do something fun and relaxing with Papa so we headed to the WWII museum.
