Day at the Lake

DSC_1797

We spent two nights “camping” at the Fontainebleau State park.  We rented this cabin which sits on the edge of Lake Pontchartrain.  After spending four days in Mobile enjoying Mardi Gras we were thinking we had over scheduled ourselves with another   trip.  But after getting there, it was perfectly relaxing.

They had a splash pad which Elizabeth and Logan played in for over an hour.  We drove over to it from the cabin and the baby fell asleep on the 4 min drive so he missed out on the fun.

We just enjoyed watching the kids run around being carefree kids!

When the kids got up the first morning, which is always early, we decided we’d go have a nice breakfast.  We must have saw a dozen deer as we left the park.

The cabin had a little pier at the bottom with no edges.  Luke would have jump in the lake if we would have let him so that wasn’t very relaxing for mom.   We let the boys sit on the edge and put their feet in the water.  They were splashing on top of the water and Logan tells me, “I can’t walk on water mommy but Jesus can.”

Logan had a rough morning…I think he was woken up a little too early after several days of no naps.

OLPH Mardi Gras 2012

DSC_1775

At any parade, Luke is happy as long as he gets a ball!  He screams when other kids get a ball before him!

Elizabeth had a great time throwing her beads.  She also had some moon pies from Mimi that she threw.  From the reaction we saw on a few of them, folks around here likes the Mobile tradition of moon pie throws!

Easy Bake

Uncle Bry has been in town this week, trying to keep up with the kids!  Since he gave Elizabeth easy bake food for Christmas, Mom and Dad decide he should have the fun of cooking it!

Tooth fairy update

So the night of the tooth fairy visit, Justin got home at midnight from a business trip so it was close to 1am before we got to bed. And Uncle Bry was in town so both kids were in Logan’s room.

At 5:30 this little princesses came bouncing in our room…”the tooth fairy came and brought me a dollar”!!  She was so excited.  That’s great sweet heart but it’s still really early, go lay back down for a little while.  She left and we rolled over hoping to go back to sleep for an hour.   About 15 minutes later we hear lots of chatter so I went to check on them.  Elizabeth had woken Logan up and they were investigating the tooth fairies visit.  Elizabeth tells me how there was fairy dust on the window, grass and tree out front.  ( We have never really even talked about the tooth fairy so this was no play up by mom and dad)  It was like Christmas all over again.  It’s so great to see that kind of magic and belief in your kids!

So this pic is her at 7.  I’m looking all over the house to get her ready for school and she’s sound asleep on the couch!

Chef One and chef two

DSC_1750

The best part of the weekends is spending time in the kitchen with the kids.  They both want to help sooo much.  Friday night we made homemade pizzas again.  It’s becoming a weekend ritual as long as mommy remembers to make the dough.  The best part of the pizzas is we make four personal pizza so everyone get what they want (mommy get a veggie pizza she loves!).  Tonight we made a yummy chocolate pie.  It was in the food network Chocolate edition.  We tried the chocolate rub on our steaks also – not so good.  Luckily it didn’t ruin the steaks but it sure didn’t add anything.

Mardi Gras Round 2

First parade we were sweeting and a week later we were freezing.  I think the temp was around 50F but the wind was gusting and freezing.  We layered as much as possible to stay warm.  Both the boys love wearing their hats too.  If Luke sees his in the car he wants it.

Logan’s new vest.  He had a read one from Christmas two years ago and loved it.  He had worn it earlier this year and his tummy would hang out the bottom.  It got so bad I had to hide it.  So when I found this on sale the other day I just knew he’d love it.

This ball brought great joy and big tears when he let it blow away.

Throw me something mister!! Logan and Elizabeth took turns in Dads arms.

Checking out all the loot.  We’ll recycle the bead at Elizabeth’s school parade next week.  And all the stuffed animals will be saved for the fair!

The Boot

Justin was on a business trip last week so the kids were talking with him on the phone. He was on speaker phone and I was half listening to them. Logan keeps saying something about "your not in the boot". I was trying to figure out thinking he was saying food?? I really wasn't sure so I ask. Elizabeth chimes in, he's asking him if he still in the boot. What? You know mom, the boot, Louisanna. Later that night I explained it to Justin and we both had a good laugh.

Throw me something Mister!

DSC_1712

We ventured out to our first Mardi Gras parade of the season.  Unlike seasons past with all the bundling and laying of clothes, today we were wishing we had shorts and flip flops on.  Waiting in the hot sunshine for the parade was brutal.

Early in the waiting process…

I think Elizabeth was more than ready for the parade at this point…

Baby putting his head in a plastic bag, probably not parent of the year material but fun none the less!

When’s the parade going to roll….

Alast…beads, a little candy, some toys, and more beads!  We made it through 11 of 20  floats (plus bands and dance teams) before we all agreed it was time to go.

You know its been a good day when you have three kids passed out in the car!

Date Night

DSC_1670

Someone was very excited about their special night tonight.  The area Girl Scouts where having a Father/Daughter Ball tonight.  I found this dress during after Christmas sales for $10 and bought it just because.  Didn’t know we’d have such a special occasion for it.  She was also proud to pick Daddy’s pink tie out for him!
