First beach trip of 2008

Elizabeth had been talking about going to the beach and swimming all week. Maybe we talked it up too much!!

This is where the smiles end...Elizabeth wanted nothing to do with the water. It was pretty cold after the big flood Friday night...but even when we moved her to the indoor heated pool she wasn't much better. She did float around a little in her brothers float just to appease her parents but didn't seem to really enjoy it.

Camera fogged up becasue it was so cold in the room...she did look cute!

Let's get away from the pool and go to the beach, Grandpa.

Logan's first trip to the Gulf!

The beach?? Logan wasnt quite sure what all the excitement was about!
Just like his sister did at 3 months in Naples, we had to get a picture of Logan's first dip in the gulf. The water was pretty cold so he wasn't sure what to think of it.
He wanted to get down and roll in the sand but his mean mom wouldn't let him!
Walkin' in the sand
Happy little guy!

Cookie Chef

Keeping with the King tradition, Little E is obessed with food and cooking. Her favorite thing to do these days is .."mix it"

Thanks sis!

So I'm getting ready the other morning and Logan's sleeping peacefully in our bed while Elizabeth is running around the house. Knowing I'll need to feed him when he wakes I get his cereal ready when I got Elizabeth breakfast. I hear Logan "talking" and go to check on him and this is what find. Evidently Elizabeth was worried her brother was going to starve and decided she better feed him. At least everyone was happy!

Day Three/Four

of no binkie pretty uneventful. She hasn't asked for them or messed with Logan's. She never liked those hard round ones from the hospital thank goodness! She tends to fight naps and bed time a little which she never did before but I attribute that not only to the binkie but also growing up!

Day Two

Day two without the binkie was pretty uneventful. No problems last night. She asked for them first thing this morning and then again after dinner, the times when she's in her "chill" mode. But I just stuck to the story - "you broke your binkie chewing on them" and she was fine with it. Not even a whimper going to bed tonight. Lets hope this trend continues.

Sunday afternoons

are for chillin' - Logan watching cartoons in mom and dad's bed!

War Eagle!

Logan...
following in his sister's footsteps!

Who knew a tent could be so much fun?? Thanks to an award Mom won at work we went shopping at Target and to dinner at Macaroni Grill. We've been looking for a little tent to keep Logan out of the sun at the beach and this is the best we could do. Once we got home and put it together it was a little bigger than we thought. Once we told Elizabeth she could put a toy in it, she spent the next hour "moving" in!
PS: Nursing mom's - I was surprised to find some nice nursing bras at Target. They even have a little lace if your getting tired of the old typical cotton ones.

Day one

without the binkie!! We've been trying to use it less and less. And because her molars are coming in she started chewing holes in the binkies. Worried about her choking on them, the thought of constantly replacing them, and the fact we have to just say no at one point - today was the day!

I said no binkie to church and I'm not sure who was more upset - Elizabeth or Dada. But Elizabeth proved him wrong and sailed through church with no problems. Next hurdle, nap time! She didn't ask for it but did through a fit but in less than 3 minutes she was snoozing.

Bedtime was a little rougher, "white one, white one". Lately she's started asking for them by color. But she was asleep in less than 10 minutes.

Conversation with a 2 yr old

Scene: Mom's sitting on the couch pumping and Elizabeth climbs up beside her

E: I want to pump
Mom: No, mom has to do it.
E: Why?
Mom: Because the baby needs milk.
E: I do it.
Mom: No honey, you don't have milk
E: (Looking with puzzled face at her chest) Why?
Mom: When you become a mommy you will have milk
E: Oh, ok! (and runs along)

We have noticed the "why" word popping up more and more frequently and more often than not it's after being told no. The good thing is if you give her any explination, she usually with am "ah" or "oh" and goes and finds some other entertainment.

Busy but relaxing weekend

Logan practicing his sitting skills in Mom big tub!
A quick pic with everyone dressed up after church.
Being silly in Mom and Dad's bed after bath time.
Friday night we hosted several of Justin's coworkers for a crawfish party. Yummy!!! Of all the kids there I think Elizabeth was the only one eating crawfish and defiantly the only one carrying around the spicy corn! Sat we got up early to run in a 5K - well Dad ran and we cheered! He got second place for his age group!! On Sunday we picked up oyster poboys on the way home from church and to our amazement Elizabeth ate the fried oysters - add other new food to the list. Then Sunday night Justin fixed a delicious meal including fillet and lobster - mom didn't share her lobster but Dad did. Elizabeth loved it and wanted more after it was gone. We've got to cut back on this girls pallet or we may go broke. She use to eat Kraft singles like they were going out of style but now that she's had mom and dad's cheeses so much she won't touch a single.

Hehe

So we are sitting in church Sunday doing our best to keep Elizabeth quiet during the readings - as usual. So in the middle of the second reading Elizabeth says "i pee" as she points to the side door. Mind you I've taken in there once about a year ago to change her diaper. I pretended to ignore her and she says it again to which i tell her she has a diaper on it's ok. Then she says it again and at this point the people behind us start snickering and I realize we are about to have a break down if I don't take her. So I pick her up and proceed to the back of the church. Twice before making it out Elizabeth annouces to the whole congeration " I pee, I pee". She didn't quite make it (I could feel the warmth) but she did go some more once with got to the bathroom so I was happy to see she's making the connection!

Capital

Elizabeth contemplating walking all the 50 steps to the capital.
She learned quickly she need to lift her dress to keep from tripping.
She was friendly with everyone that walked by.
Friends at play

It was HOT out there!! And it wiped the little one out!

I'm stuck!

The other day I was back in my bedroom and I hear..."mama, i stuck, i stuck". I'm thinking to myself oh great what did she get into now. I just started laughing when I came around the corner and saw her in the bouncy.

5 months!!!

Logan turned 5 months yesterday! He didn't want much to do with the football.
But he was into laughing at Dad!
Are we done yet?
Catch mom - here I come! He's getting stronger everyday and sitting up longer and longer on his own. Any chance he gets now he rolls on his belly (careful changing him now). As long as his big sister is around to entertain him he'll say on his belly for a while until he realizes he's not moving. I expect some type of pulling/pushing backwards/scooting over the next month because you can tell he just wants to get down and play!

"Boot Camp"

What was I thinking!! So I've been making it randomly to the gym for the past couple of months and last week I officially lost what I like to call my "Logan weight". I'm still carrying 10lbs of "Elizabeth weight" that was never lost between the pregnancies. Although I'm still breastfeeding, that only helps so much. So the "boot camp" program they started at the gym this morning sounded like a good change of pace. It started at 5:15 so I planned to get up at 5am but Logan decided 4:30 was better. If I make it to 9 tonight, can still walk and carry my kids I'll be doing good!
**Update: I'm sore!! Still glad i did it and I'll do it again next week but my calfs and hamstrings feel like they are going to pop!
Elizabeth tasted every flavor of dum-dums!
A couple extra pics from Claire - Thanks!!

Cinco de Mayo

Yes we the Mexican Kings celebrated Cinco de mayo with Elizabeth's friends and all the pinata beaters we could find.
Needless to say the pinata made by Heather and the candy it contained were the highlight of the evening.
Little E was a good host except for the sombrero chip holder and the Capri suns. She did not want to share those items with any one... Although it was fun watching her dance to the chip holder every time she got salsa out of it.

Carrots!

Sat we headed to the farmers market and got Logan some fresh local carrots. While it looks like he's wearing a lot he actually did really well with them!
