5 months

Happy 5 months to our happy little boy!!

Luke amazes us everyday! It has the best smiles and loves to laugh!

Just the other day I saw him do a push up on just his hands and feet! Can you say strong! Those thighs are muscle not just fluff! He cam stand well while holding our hands. He'll be on the move before we know it!

He is eating his cereal in the evenings like a champ. He also eyes everything while we eat.

We love you!!

Y2K

Yesturday I got a letter in the mail congragulating me on 10 years with Ingersoll Rand, aka Trane. The letter was reminding me to go select my achievement award. I laughed when I went online to see what they had, several watch options were list for each of the achievement brackets, 10, 15,20 etc. I know the old joke is I worked for that company 30 yrs and all I get is a watch! I guess somethings don't change. But wait, do people even wear watches anymore - I don't think so. Anyways, they also had some earings, necklaces, fishing polls, but I went the practical choice and picked the luggage option. It appears to be a decent size roller suitcase - small enough for a carryon but big enough to for a weekend. We'll see when it shows up.

So ten years has flown by. While my job is far from anything meaningful or exciting (HVAC and systems work), Trane has been a very good and faithful employer and I work with some great people!

So, Y2K saw college graduation, marriage and my first real job and all have worked out GREAT!

New kicks

After fighting once again to get Logan's shoes on his feet I decided it was time to get some new shoes. He's stayed in crocs and sandals most of the summer which are forgiving in size. So we measure his foot at it's just over the 9 mark. No wonder we been fighting to get the size 8 sneakers on! We ended up getting a 10 so they'd last a few months! He's been growing a lot lately!

Full days

Elizabeth starts full days today at school. She keeps telling Logan how he's going to miss her becasue she's going to be gone ALL day. She then tell's him how she will eat breakfast and lunch at school, then turns to me and says do I eat dinner there too? You'd think we are shipping her off to boarding school or something. And no, she doesn't eat breakfast there but they do serve it so I think they've talked about it at school.
The kids have both decided it's more fun to take showers these days than baths. So Elizabeth was in the shower last night and I'm listening to her play..."Allejuh, one nation under God." I think they may have a little more work ahead to get her prayers and pledge straightened out. I left and came back to hear her repeating "Father, Son, Holy Spirt" over and over. I guess she's just practicing. She said that was the first "prayer" they were learning at school.
At school the open house last week the teachers reminded the parents that they will be going to weekly mass starting mid Sept. She also mentioned if you don't go regularly make sure you take them before then because little kids always have lots of questions their first time. It really made me think...can you imagine not going to church regularly? It is my recharge for the week - well at least when the kids behave - haha!

$3

My find of the week...$1.50 pj sets @ Walmart ! Can't beat that. Yes, all the kids got some new pjs.

Rice time

A few weeks back we started giving Luke some rice in the evenings. The past severl he has really gotten into eating more than he was wearing. I think it has had a direct impact to his sleeping. He's been a pretty good sleeper from the get go but lately he's been crashing at night and sleeping 12+ hrs. And Mama loves it!

Public verse Private

The big debate - public schools verse private schools. To be honest, I always was the advocate for public schools. A good education, paid for by my taxes, why not? As a public school grad I would get defensive if anyone suggested private school was any "better" than public. I got a good education and was prepared for college. Some would argue - what about religion and my response to that was - that's a parents job.

So my husband a catholic school kid and i the public school kid didn't talk much about this. Guess we figured when the time came it would work itself out.

Well, one week into school and private school is off to a good start for us. When they start and end school each day with prayer it just makes me feel we are in the right place. So much has changed with what can and can't be done in public places these days, leaving little room for God in most public classrooms. Is this saying all public education is bad - no far from it. But when the option to educate at our church was there it seemed like a no brainer!

Homework

I know lately I’ve been slacking on the blog. A picture here and there from the phone but not much content. I was thinking about all the emails I send in a day for work and then realized it would take all of five minutes to compose a short post and email it to the blog. I hope to capture more of the entertaining conversations and mishaps we have with the kids on a daily basis and share that entertainment with family and friends. So we’ll see how my self imposed homework assignment goes!

Laughter is good for the heart!

Orintation

I heard Elizabeth up in her room this morning and this is what I found. She had put her whole uniform including shoes and socks by herself. Maybe laying out clothes isn't a bad idea after all. More pics to come!

Stats

Luke endured two shots and an oral vacine today. He was a champ and cried more over being held down than the actual shot.

He weighed in at 17.4 lbs - which after looking back is a little bigger than both Elizabeth and Logan at their 4 month appointments.

She said he was doing great and a very strong baby. Every nurse there had to pinch those thunder thighs...he probably started getting a complex!

I still miss my old ped dr and her office - they were great but I must say since I had to change my new one is pretty good find also. Not crazy about the fact she is in such a large clinic but I like that she respects my views as a mom - it makes visits a breeze!

She said to keep doing what we are doing with the rice but mommy's milk is obviously treating him well.
