5 going on 25!
Our beautiful daughter turned five a few weeks back. It seems as though over the past few months she has just grown up alot! She had her 5 yr well visit today, and thanks to getting shoots at 4yr didn't need any today which made for a easy visit for all of us. Any time you take three kids to the a doctors office its crazy. While all the kids were very well behaved, I'm sure everyone there wondered about the loud party going on in our room! Three kids in a 10x10 room gets kind of crazy!
She weighed in at 45lbs and 42" tall, staying right on her growth curve. She answered all the dr questions, the doctor only found a frog in her ears so all is good and healthy!
This was E on the morning of her real birthday...she woke up all smiles - which is not her!

She saw something similar at the store a few months back and thought it was the greatest thing. At $20 mom did not but I pulled out a few wooden skewers and walla! She loved it.

Stinky pee
We ran out of asparagus at dinner last night!! That's right and i believe Luke ate more than anyone. And our picky one, Logan, even asked for more.
Fast forward to after dinner the kids were running around playing outside when they heard their new found friend playing in his back yard. The night before all three kids learned of the "secret door"! That's right, a small door in the fence between our two back yards, barely big enough for adults but just right for kids. As us mom's were talking the kids ran into their home for this little boy to show off all his prize toys like little kids do. After a few minutes of small talk we went back about our business while the kids continued to play, until I hear her calling my name over the fence. Looks like your son had an accident. Oh great, less than five minutes and he peed his pants - great first impression. As we cleaned him up and talked about it he explains he didn't know where their potty was. Next, ask son, I'm sure they will let you know!
Later that night as i changed the baby this smell came over me and I realized it was smelly asparagus pee and then I became even more embarrassed of Logan's accident at the neighbors - oh my!

Auburn girl
Elizabeth has always lived in LSU country, surrounded by LSU fans but we have managed to keep her brained washed in favor of the real tigers!! At school her teachers have nick named her Auburn girl. Everyone has a cover with their nap mats and E insisted on bringing an old Auburn blanket...no princesses for her!
Today they had a carnival and her teacher came up to us and said you will just love her butterfly she made in art. It's orange and blue. We of course are proud since she did this all on her own at school without our influence.
So on the way home I asked about it...
Me: I hear you made a butterfly
E: yeah
Me: is it pink and purple, (her favorite colors lately)
E: no mom. It's orange and purple.
Me: what purple?
E: yes, I didn't want it to be too Auburny. So I did a little Auburn, orange, and a little, purple for LSU. You know I'm the only auburn girl in my class

Luke - 12 months
Luke undured his 1 year well baby visit today, four shots, one in each limb. Besides the shots all is well. He tipped the scale at 22.5 lbs and 31" - both in the 50% and almost identical to Logan at this age. I guess since Logan has slimmed down so much we forget his thighs use to be just as big!
Some big changes in Luke's life...whole milk or cow's milk as the kids call it. After a year of breastfeeding he's ready to move on. It a little sad for mom but more happy than sad as I can move on from the "milk maker" role! He has finally mastered a sippy cup!
Also, mommy had to leave him overnight for the first time, and guess what - he survived! It's always hard that first time...more worrying about it but once it's done and you know they will be fine without you it's a good feeling. (Now mom's thinking...anniversary trip...)
Luke's walking, climbing, and trying to run these days all to keep up with sissy and buddy! I turned around outside the other day to see him standing up in the baby play set which sits about three feet off the ground. I turned to Justin thinking, did you just put him up there?? Nope, he climbed and was so very proud of himself! He's also getting better about getting off of couches and beds by himself. He loves to hide sippy cups in cabinets and baskets so we have to keep a close eye or else you get the not so nice surprise a few days later! He waves bye-bye, blows kiss, makes raspberries, and says dada over and over but won't say mama with the exception of screaming hysterically when something is wrong.
We've had a great first year with Luke and can't wait to see the little boy he grows up to be!
It's been a crazy past few weeks and I'm hoping, praying summer will slow things down just a little. I find myself very sentimental lately with the kids. I guess it's just this time of year. Both Elizabeth and Luke were born on Wednesday of Holy Week, and came home on Good Friday. And with my baby turning one last week and Elizabeth about to turn 5 (officially not a baby/toddler/preschooler anymore) I can't help but want to slow things down - if only I had breaks for them!
I remember a year ago, being very apprehensive about being induced before my due date and turning to the bible looking for some words of encouragement. Knowing the baby (gender unknown and name still in the air) would have 3/31 birthday I started looking at different chapter 3 verse 31's...in the book of Luke it happens to be one of those son of...son of, honestly one of those verses which I typically skip over. At this same time I realized this would be holy week again, just like his sister, and slowly began to except the induction. We had talked about Luke as a possible name but as soon as he was born I was confident in the name.
The pediatrician on call that first night shared how his son was Luke and that Luke was not only a writer of the gospel but also a physician.
And a side note not to leave Logan out...he was born on Dec 8 which is catholic holy day of Immaculate Conception. I always joke to Justin about our "holy" kids and just pray some of that rubs off on them in their teen years!

Luke turns One!!!
We had a quite family celebration for Luke yesturday. He was King for the day! I still can't believe my baby is one and another year of firsts are behind us.
He did manage to get his hands on wrapping paper once or twice without help from the siblings!
He figured out the hammering quickly!
