The night before Kindergarten

So last night’s goal was to get the kids to bed by 7:30.  It use to be the norm but once time changed last spring, and the days got long, and summer set in bedtime around here has gotten slack to say the least.

So baths at 6:30 left us with a little time for a few books, E’s choice of course.  She picks a children’s bible, which is short Bible stories with reflection questions at the end to “drive home” the message.  She picks out the story about Sarah and Abraham and it wraps up with God always keeps his promise.  First question following the story, Has any one ever told you they’d do something and then not done?  E quickly replies with yes, you said I could have Oreo pudding last night and then said no.  And we still didn’t get it tonight! (They got chocolate but obviously that didn’t matter).  Second question, “How do you feel when someone doesn’t keep their promises?”  E – sad, I really wanted Oreo pudding.  Message driven home…even small promises parents may think don’t matter may matter to your kids!  Some ones getting Oreo pudding when she gets home from school today!
